Objects will continue as an important aspect, if not the central element, of Museums. Conservation of the historic material record will remain an important function.

Major museums will continue to use their objects as the central element of Research, Education & Display Facilities.

Education as a Public Service

Will continue but with more emphasis on Access, Social Inclusion and Multiculturalism

Information Resource

Role as curator of Information will continue but will expand with increasing use of Information Technology

Museums continue to maintain important Reference Collections.
