Proper sign Posting!

One of the most effective methods of marketing is to make sure the site is well sign-posted from the Train Station, town centre, main approach roads and in the local vicinity.

Leaflets Even if badly designed a leaflet is still very effective

Free Publicity - Listings

A museum with a small budget can get significant coverage with an event programme. This needs to be varied to attract the continued attention of local listings magazines and web sites.

Some web sites ask the Museum itself to upload event information - such as Culture24.

An effective press list and good relations with local papers, magazines, TV, Radio and Internet pay dividends.

Networking

Local area networks - tourist boards, attraction groups, arts organisations often run collaborative listings, leaflets and events. Rail companies often produce leaflets with 2 for 1 or 10% off promotions. Normally these provide extra visitors for no cost.
