The Museum Sector in London today

The lead body for the sector is MLA (Museums, Libraries, Archives Council) - http://www.mla.gov.uk/. The London section is here.

The Museums in each region are organised into a Hub lead by leading Museums. For example, the London Hub http://www.mlalondon.org.uk/sector/index.cfm?NavigationID=242 consists of the Museum of London, the London Transport Museum, the Horniman Museum and the Geffrye Museum. It was set up by the Government as part of their 'Renaissance in the Regions' policy. The Hub maintain a set of Museum Development Officers who can offer advice. The Government's lead body is the Department for Culture, Media and Sports (http://www.culture.gov.uk/). Museum Staff are represented by the Museums Association. http://www.museumsassociation.org Independent museums by AIM http://www.aim-museums.co.uk/
